Well attended Playdate with local Emergency Services
By Jacklyn Roque, Moruya SES
The “Playdates with Emergency Services’ is a great initiative for all Emergency Services including NSW SES Batemans Bay and Moruya Units on a way to connect with our local Eurobodalla Community especially after the Black Summer Fires of 2019/2020 where we know that children are still being affected by lights and sirens and seeing uniformed Emergency services team members and an opportunity for families with small children to connect and talk with their local emergency services. The “Playdates’ is in its 2nd year with three events held for 2024, Batehaven (21/10), Narooma (24/10) and Moruya (28/10) which were amazing and hugely successful. Batehaven was our busiest and very well attended. Narooma was brilliant, lots of families with small children and infants, Moruya was fantastic and a load of fun with ” Paddy” dancing with the children and other local emergency services team members, including our own!. We have an amazing connection with Jenny and Louise from ESC Children Services , Karleen, Michelle and Kate from Australian Breast Feeding Association- Protection of Infants and small children for these events to be successful, informative and enjoyable. SES Acting Commissioner Debbie Platz visited Moruya for the event along with SES representatives from the Northern River, looking to run similar events.
