North Head Road stablisation works
Road work on Moruya’s North Head Drive has started this week.
Eurobodalla Shire Council will stabilise the steep slope to stop rocks from falling onto the road. Big machinery is on site to cut into the cliff face, with trucks carting that material off to Guerilla Bay to be recycled into another road-safety project.
One lane will be closed during work, with traffic lights allowing vehicles through one direction at a time. It’s going to take a few months but we’ll end up with a safer road for drivers and cyclists, and reduced runoff into the river.
North Head Drive is one of Eurobodalla’s busiest roads, with more than 4,000 vehicles using it every day. It forms a key part of the coastal route connecting Batemans Bay and Moruya. It also serves as the primary access to Moruya Airport. Funding this project of $1,182,166 came from the Australian and NSW governments.
