New Owner for Moruya’s The River Restaurant

By Phil Herrick
The River Restaurant in Moruya has a new owner and is set to reopen on 21 August with a new menu.
The new owner is Peter Jones-Best, who grew up in the shire and has returned after 20 years in the hospitality industry in Sydney.
“I started school at Moruya Primary so it’s great to come back home,” he said.
His last venture in Sydney was a Sri Lankan restaurant in Enmore and his executive chef will be joining him at The River.
“Our menu will have a modern Australian coastal theme which is a move away from the previous French themed menu” said Peter.
“It will feature seafood, Tuross Lake oysters and local produce.”
Mr Jones-Best bought The River from Peter Compton who operated in for the last 18 years. His last day of business was July 27.
Trading hours at The River restaurant will be similar to those in the past.
