The Marine Rescue Tuross Moruya Unit is preparing to host their traditional annual Australia Day Community Breakfast BBQ, on Thursday, 26 January from 8.00am to 12.30pm at the iconic One Tree Lookout Picnic Area, Tuross Boulevarde, Tuross Head.

Unit Commander Blaise Madden said, “This is one of our major community fundraising events of the year. All proceeds raised go directly towards fueling our vessels and other essential operational costs. We rely on the support and generosity of the community to help us keep them safe on the water. We only receive approximately 20% funding from the state government, therefore every contribution helps tremendously. Every bacon and egg roll and coffee sold supports our mission of saving lives on the water.

“The annual BBQ breakfast provides a great opportunity for our crews to relax with the community and answer questions about volunteering with the Service. We are always recruiting new volunteers,” Unit Commander Madden added.

“Volunteering with Marine Rescue NSW isn’t just about boat crew, anyone who has an interest in areas such as sponsorship, markets co-ordination, marketing, etc., can join. We currently have 34 volunteer members at Marine Rescue Tuross Moruya and are actively looking for more in 2025. Come and have a chat about the opportunities available,” he said.  

The event attracts many of the wider Tuross Head community and visitors to Eurobodalla.

Bring your chairs, bathers and picnic blankets and indulge in bacon and egg rolls, sausage sandwiches, cold drinks and hot beverages. A raffle will also be held.
