Community invited to help shape the future of
seniors living in Moruya

IRT Media
Residents of Moruya are invited to help shape an exciting new chapter for seniors’ living in their community, with IRT unveiling early plans for a vibrant and purpose-built seniors’ living community on vacant land at 11 Spencer Street.
Local residents and interested members of the broader Eurobodalla region can share their views at a community drop-in session and online webinar in early August, where IRT will present its initial concept plans and seek feedback to help inform the next phase of the design.
IRT’s Interim CEO Ross Gallagher said community input will play a key role in shaping the seniors’ living community.
“We’re excited to open up this conversation with the Moruya community and to hear their thoughts on our early plans,” Mr Gallagher said.
“Our vision is to deliver a vibrant, regional seniors’ living hub that offers thoughtfully designed homes, as well as lifestyle and wellbeing opportunities that support older people through all stages of ageing.”
The draft masterplan includes a mix of residential aged care, retirement living and key workers accommodation, supported by on-site amenities such as a health centre, library, café and clubhouse. It also proposes small-scale retail spaces, landscaped green areas and walkable streets to promote an active and accessible lifestyle, while encouraging genuine connection with the local community.
The proposed development is deemed state significant and will be assessed by the NSW Planning Minister, requiring a more extensive submission. All feedback will be considered as IRT progresses through the required steps of the state significant development process, which will include assessment by the State Design Review Panel.
“Engaging with our local community is an important step in the process because it ensures that our planning is informed by local knowledge, community needs and the views of those who live and work nearby,” Mr Gallagher said.
IRT has a long-standing presence in the Eurobodalla region, with established communities in Moruya, Dalmeny and Batemans Bay. The proposed development would expand IRT’s services in the area and address growing demand for seniors living, aged care, key workers accommodation and local employment.
“We’ve been caring for older Australians for more than 55 years. This new project will build on that experience and our strong roots in the region,” Mr Gallagher said.
“It’s part of our ten-year strategic plan to deliver more seniors living and aged care accommodation in the region.”
All interested parties are encouraged to attend the community drop-in session or webinar to learn more, ask questions and provide feedback.
