Narooma water stories on show in Lighthouse Museum
Local water stories feature in Narooma Historical Society’s exhibition in Narooma Lighthouse Museum 5-21 September.
“Our members have had great fun coming up with ideas for this poster exhibition which has embraced the History Council of NSW’s Water theme for September’s celebration of history,” said Narooma Historical Society President Laurelle Pacey.
“These are great stories our members want to share with the wider community so I encourage everyone to drop by the Museum and check them out.”
It includes stories about Tilba Tilba’s early water scheme and hydroelectric scheme, how Narooma had a reticulated water scheme before Moruya and Batemans Bay, the frustrations of crossing Wagonga Inlet over the years, the importance of sea access for settlements like Narooma, and the importance of quality water in Wagonga Inlet.
