350 Eurobodalla paddles out for Rising Tide
350 Eurobodalla
Forty people gathered and sixteen boats paddled out on Coila Lake as a prelude to the Newcastle blockade by Rising Tide.
Grandparents, families and even a newborn baby at his first climate protest were there.
Will our grandchildren look back at this time and ask why we did not act when it was so obvious that disaster was coming?
We are determined to take action against the fossil fuel companies which are recklessly destroying our future.
The Rising Tide blockade in November will close down, for a time, the biggest coal export harbour in the world.
Emissions from Australian exports of coal and gas will come back to drive bigger bushfires, floods and cyclones.
We know what has to be done yet the government and opposition continue to make things worse.
The Labor government is increasing renewable energy, but has continued to approve massive new gas and coal projects which will add to methane and carbon dioxide emissions in Australia and around the world.
The Liberals’ nuclear mirage is cover for increasing the use of gas and increasing Australia’s emissions.
There is movement towards a safer future, much of it from ordinary people putting solar panels on their roofs or buying electric cars, but we need the government to act.
Eurobodalla is already experiencing climate chaos with the massive Black Summer bushfires and the increased temperatures in the ocean.
350 Eurobodalla encourages local people to take part in the Newcastle blockade from November 19 to 25 or the Canberra protest on November 27 and 28.
ABOUT 350.org
350.org Global was founded in 2008 by a group of university friends in the U.S along with author, environmentalist and activist, Bill McKibben.
Since then, 350 has grown into one of the world’s largest creative activism groups working to build a powerful movement demanding climate change action. We work in almost every country in the world to stop new fossil fuel projects and speed up the transition to renewable energy.
