Cons. C. Love was thrown from his horse at the Heads on Thursday evening, receiving slight concussion.
Mr. J. D. Ward has generously offered to take the Scout boys and equipment to Broulee where they will pitch camp for the holidays this month.
On Sunday last a number of Moruyaites – Messrs. H. J. and G. Thomson; and P. Connors, Mesdames P. Connors and J. King, Misses L. Luck and Theckla Waters – had a splendid run through to Eden and back. Leaving here at 7.45 a.m. in Mr. Allan Louttit’s fine Buick with its owner at the wheel, the party visited the principal towns en route and were safely ensconced in their respective homes at 10 to 11 p.m. Mr. H. J. speaks in glowing terms of the capabilities of their popular young chauffeur, and is most enthusiastic on his impressions of the well-kept and up-to-date appearance of the southern towns.
We regret to report the very sudden death at North Sydney, in her sleep, on 28th ult. of Mrs. T. W. Emmott [nee Anne Forster] in her 75th year. Deceased was a daughter of the late Mr. Thomas Forster, of Wagonga, and spent the major portion of her life in this district, always taking an active and prominent part in all charitable functions. Deceased is survived by a widower and grown-up family of four daughters and one son, also two sisters, Mesdames J. and W. Emmott [nee Elizabeth Ann & Frances Forster], and one brother, Mr. J. Forster, of Wagonga.
Although not unexpected, deep regret was expressed on Friday of last week when the sad news reached here that Mr. Godfred Hanscom had passed away that morning at Pennant Hill’s Home. Deceased, who was the second son of Mr. George Hanscom (who predeceased him only eight months ago) had been in declining health for the past two years. It was whilst driving his service car from Moruya to Nowra that he contracted a severe cold which affected his lungs so he never regained his usual health and strength. Taking a rest from business, he spent many months in Sydney and Brisbane last year seeking medical advice and treatment, but it was of no avail, and his demise took place at the early age of 27 years. Mr. Godfred was one of our most popular young natives, and his many friends mourn his untimely end. Profound sympathy is expressed for his young widow (a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. Cowdroy of Mantle Hill) and child.
Mr. W. Jermyn, Shire Clerk, is relinquishing housekeeping, and will take up abode at a hotel. Mr. and Mrs. L. Finch will move into the cottage at Page and Campbell Streets when vacated by Mr. Jermyn.
